A Word From Frank:

Frank Fleischer
They say that time flies when you're having a good time. Well, I must by having the best time anybody ever had, because the last couple of weeks went by like the Concorde used to cross the Atlantic.

Now, I'm supposed to be retired, and Nonna encouraged me to create The Straight Poop and Breeders.NET primarily to keep me out of the kitchen. Well, she certainly accomplished that goal... I barely have time even to eat!

But I'm not about to start complaining. I've always believed that retirement was foolish when you have health and energy. In fact, I'm having the time of my life.

Since moving from California to Canada a few years ago, I find that the holiday I miss the most is Thanksgiving. Yes, we celebrate Thanksgiving up here north of the border in October, but somehow it's just not the same. I hope you all had a great family holiday and didn't overeat, at least not too much.

If you read nothing else in this issue, be sure to take a look at the article on dogs and chocolate. It could save your dog's life.

See you next time. Wishing you a warm puppy 'til then.
Frank

One of my favorite doggy web sites is Working Dog Web... you go there and you always find something interesting and different, like Dog Facts & Figures, with all kinds of tid-bits like tallest, heaviest, smallest, fastest, and slowest breeds, intelligence, popularity, history... and more... you get the idea. Interesting and fun.
Dog Health & Nutrition: Why chocolate poisons dogs and how to treat chocolate dog poisoning

http://www.dogownersdigest.com/news/library/chocolate-dog-poisoning.shtml

"Once dogs have tasted chocolate, they want more. And for dogs, that's a bad thing." It's that time of year again, folks, when chocolate seems to be everywhere. This important article from Dog Owners Digest (publisher of Canine Times newsletter) tells us why we should be *extremely* careful about not even letting our dogs have a little taste.
Dog Activities and Training: Dog Parks: A Politically Incorrect View

http://www.k9coach.com/newsletter.html

Dog parks are great, right? A lot of folks seem to think so. But here's an opposing view. I'm not taking sides... it's always a good idea to look at more than one point of view, though. Anyone who either visits a dog park or is pushing City Hall to create one should know what's in this article by Shirley Greene.

Kuranda Dog Beds.

What our customers say:
"Having recently ordered and received 8 Kuranda beds for our small 8-run rescue I and the rest of the volunteers are amazed at how they have changed the dogs' dispositions. All they want to do is lie around! No more dog fights, just a bunch of lazy dogs hanging out on their beds. At feeding time one of the dogs hangs her head over the side of the bed to eat her food! I was a doubting Thomas for awhile but your beds are the best thing to happen to our kennel." Jane Galvin, Big Canoe Animal Rescue. Visit Kuranda.com (http://www.kuranda.com) to find out more about these fine dog beds.
