Kuranda Dog Beds.

What our customers say:
“We felt terrible having him sleep on the floor. I didn't want to say how wonderful this bed is until we'd lived with it for a while and now we have and it's the BEST! He has never even attempted to eat it ... I guess because there's nothing he can really get to so he's never tried ... I don't know and I don't care. It's still in perfect shape and he sleeps like a little angel on it every day and night. THANK YOU!”

A Word From Frank:

Frank FleischerIt's amazing what a holiday can do for your spirits and your outlook on life. Nonna and I have been walking on the beach for hours every day for the last two weeks, and guess what? I'm actually, totally, completely, relaxed! I love creating The Straight Poop each week, but I have to admit, it's been wonderful putting it out of my mind for a while. We can't make our responsiblities go away, but it sure is nice to put them on hold once in a while.

We're in the L.A. area -- Marina del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach, but if you go before 8 in the morning, before any lifeguards are on duty to enforce the ban, you'll experience a joyful array of dogs and their people, having so much fun running, barking at the waves, retrieving sticks and balls, going to strangers like us with huge doggy smiles on their faces. Makes us miss Katie all the more... we flew here this trip, and didn't want to subject her to the hazards of flying, particularly in summertime. But she's OK, at home with Elina.

See you next time. Wishing you a warm puppy 'til then.
Frank

Featured Website: Bad Dog Chronicles

Don't take the name Bad Dog Chronicles seriously. This site has a heart-warming collection of wonderful stories about some very good dogs.
Dog Health & Nutrition: Corpulent Canines

Too many of us don't know how to adjust the amount of food we give our dogs as they mature. Here's some insight on what happens and how we can avoid ruining our best friends' health (and shortening their already too short lives) by overfeeding. From CanineSports.com.
Dog Activities and Training: Crate Training with a Doggie Door

In my personal experience, two of the most useful aids to having a well trained dog and a minimum of inconvenience from your dog are a crate and a doggie door. Master Trainer Fred Hassen tells us how to use them together in this article from WorkingDogs.

Dogs in the News: Today's Dogs Sit in the Lap of Luxury

In this op-ed piece from SunSpot.net (Maryland's Online Community), Mark Schlossenberg wonders if we are going absolutely overboard in caring for our pets these days, citing such outrages as a health insurance policy, an out-sourced daily dog walker and an expensive orthopedic bed.
Featured Dog Humor: Comic Strip

Featured Rescue Site: Pet Welfare - Eglin Air Force Base

We ask plenty of the members of our Armed Forces, including requiring that they be ready to disrupt their family life at a moment's notice. 'Ever stop to think about the effect on pets of such family turmoil? Pet Welfare is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located on Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Their purpose is to support the military member and military lifestyle by easing the hardship associated with abandoning or euthanizing a valued family member, the family pet. Military assignment to certain locations makes it unfeasible or impossible in many cases for military members to continue ownership and care of their pets, so this organization serves an important role in helping people and their pets through stressful times.
