A Word From Frank:
I received some messages this last week commenting on our new format. Most writers were complimentary, but a couple of them told us that they couldn't read the graphic form, and would we please send them the old format instead. Unfortunately, it's a big job to do it both ways, and our staff consists of just me and Katie (she does the editing and proofreading, saying "Ooooooh, ooooooh" when I've messed up the grammar or made a typographical error). The tech folks who keep track of who uses what kind of software say that only a handful of people still read their email in a program that doesn't see the graphical presentation, so I'm asking that handful to upgrade their program so they can see our new format in all it's colorful splendor and leave me and Katie time to take some longer walks. Hope you understand. In the meantime, until you upgrade your email program, or at least for the next few weeks, you'll find all the links at the bottom of the newsletter in a section titled "Links for the Graphically Disadvantaged". See you again next week. Wishing you a warm puppy 'til then. Frank |

Featured Website: What is a “pet quality” puppy?
Dog Owner's Guide, a production of canismajor.com, has a wealth of interesting and useful articles on a wide range of dog-related topics. "What is a 'pet quality' puppy?" Why buy 'just a pet' from a show dog breeder?" is one of their newer offerings, and, as always, well worth a read. |

Dog Health & Nutrition: Mosquitos and Dog Heartworm Disease
The news has recently been full of the dangers to humans of West Nile Virus and how it is passed from birds to humans via mosquitos. Less well publicized are the dangers to dogs of heartworm disease, passed from dog to dog by mosquito. Read more from Citrus County (Florida) Mosquito Control so you can be prepared to discuss prevention with your vet. |

Don't Miss This One Have you seen UltiMutt's dog posters and greeting cards? I'm not normally into artwork, but I think this stuff is impressive. It's not cutesy like so much of the other dog stuff I've seen. In fact, it's downright inspiring! Not only is the product top quality, but their service is quick and professional. I highly recommend the Ultimutt website. (It's fun just to browse through all of the different designs!) from a trusted sponsor
