I try to avoid taking a position on a subject about which I know little or nothing. The American Kennel Club has taken a very strong position against something Congress is considering called the Lautenberg amendment, which would force airlines to retrofit their cargo holds, notify federal regulatory authorities before shipping animals, and engage in extensive additional federal reporting, allegedly to improve the safe handling of animal shipments. I call it to your attention so you can read their statement and decide if you want to support their letter-writing campaign against the pending legislation.
