My dog is 12. He has never had issues with anal glands before this last summer. His diet has been changed to prescription food because of possible allergies. He has had his anal glands drained 2 times in his life. The last time was two weeks ago, however it did not help. A call to the vet on follow up and he put him on an antibiotic, assuming there was an infection there. Hope that is all it is.

Decent article but not entirely accurate....

A vaccinated dog can still get parvo.

You make it sound like its easy for the dog to get re-infected with parvo when that's not true at all. Once the dog has contracted the virus and fought it off it will develop antibodies to keep it away in the future.

I highly recommend supplementing your vet treatment with HERBS it increases the survival rate drastically.

This is a good product, but I haven't tried it yet, I made my own herbal extract for my puppy..

GOOD LUCK! Parvo is a nasty illness.

Eric - your dog needs help. You can phone around for some vets and ask if they will give you an opinion over the phone. Some vets can recommend how to finance the bill. For the usual $65 fee for a check-up, at least they will take his heart rate, temperature, check his pupils etc. That's not too much to help your friend... Let us know how it goes...

People really do forget how worthwhile it is to even make something as simple as a charity donation to their local shelter. The work they do there is beyond incredible, and really deserves more credit.

Very informative article though, and I'll definitely be giving your future posts a read!

Hi, I am busy rearing a orphaned litter of 5 Bull Terriers babies. Mom died after a emergency ceaser on day 57 of mating. Still very upset...but do not let us go there. I have a question: 4 babies, even the smallest one which I manage to pull through are doing great. My biggest pup at birth is struggling. She have milk coming through her nose almost every time when she drinks from the bottle. There is nothing wrong with her ability to suggle-to strong if I may say. We have used the smallest tit as packaged in the Royal Canine puppy milk replacer. I have started mixing the milk 1/2 milk 1/2 mashed puppy pills that seems to do the trick. My question: She seems to have a problem with rolling over from her side to her belly and getting up on her feet and also to stay on her feet. Is it possible that she might have some brain damage? Anybody who have experience of a sumilar situation than me? Please come back to me. Marlene

The Straight Poop!!! Best name on the internet by far.

I actually chose just two rooms that the dog would have access to. The kitchen and living room were the two we chose. All the other rooms were blocked off completely. That way we only had to prepare the two rooms. As she matured, we opened up the rest of the house slowly and under supervision. It worked out great.

he is a 1 year old precious curren terrier and is very friendly. When he see a person he thinks that everybody should come over and pet him and talk to him. If he is ignored, he will bark and be taken as other than friendly if a person didn't know him or how a dog is. However, there are maybe 1 or 2 people he doesn't seem to like or maybe he thinks they don't like him so he barks and I think is mistakely understood. how do we go about this subject. He is adorable, loved, and loves to be loved. He is precious.
